and an ivy league uni has about 18k apps a year. of which about 2.5k go through, depending on uni size and other demographic factors. Its a yearly million dollar exercise!(18000 X 165 USD)
but well, it doesn't always boil down to money. but in the end isn't that what we're all really studying for? putting in the investment of time and money for future yields in terms of higher starting salary as well as entry into fields with higher pay. The Uni life investment is almost never a bane to one's life. in some ways it was a blessing that i had the 2 years of time to waste, legally, and with the valid reason of "beyond my control" to placate my conscience(lol love the way its spelt: con-science).
but choosing a place to go to, and what course to pursue seems like such a painful exercise. I do feel that going to NJC was an exercise in futility in terms of preparation for future life after junior college. In terms of preparation for A levels, its one of the better places to be. in RJ or HC, the alumni support office, or the office in charge of helping students with uni apps, actually forces everyone to go through the motions to be free from the limitations of choice stemming from the lack of knowledge and from the lack of suitable qualification. from my understanding those places had everyone sit for SATs and the study uk/usa wasn't just a very low key announcement to go to the front office to sign up for some fair .
i don't know, i think i'm ranting again. lol but i wish i had more help from my Alma mater. They concentrated on the A levels too much, neglecting both student life quality as well as the true pre-uni preparation.
WEll, at least i'm not too late for the USA ones. :p
