wha, one day in which i can't remember a single time that i took a much needed nap . very rare for someone who keeps hours even the military doesn't condone(actually all servicemen are required to have 8 hours sleep minimum before they can be considered "fit" for duty .

well, honestly, it passed much slower than i thought a day usually does. hmm maybe sleeping@ 3am was my own "natural" way of making idle time pass faster than it seems..

but enough of the excuses, there is a solution to my insomnia; to put it simply, distraction. I haven't been thoroughly distracted/entertained since i had my last music player die on me with less than half a year of useful service. my misadventure with a 2nd hand ipod led to me losing about 150 dollars in capital losses as well as a priceless amount in consumer trust in both apple and 2nd hand goods in general. which could explain my latest "shopping list" to replenish much needed supplies and the maybe even a wry spurt of "consumerism" in some areas like food.

anyway, if you didn't know, i just acquired a sansa-e250 2GB mp3/video/picture player. the video is bloody laggy, and it being a picture viewer is less than desirable on a 1.5" screen. but the sound quality is not bad on a pair of stock earphones with bass being heard, even though i didn't expect a whisper of it through stock earphones. It has a radio, with HORRIBLE reception quality, a microsd card expansion slot, as well as a live recording function via a 1 push button, though stopping the recording required more anticipation to manoeuvre the dial to select AND CONFIRM the end of a recording. Its construction is solid, and the front is sleek black plastic that is rather scratch resistant. The back of it is supposed to be anodised steel.. or some treated metal.. but getting it 2nd hand from a friend means that i have to actually live with the corrosion from his careless 6 month tryst with it.

Anyway today was fine, just that lessons are now on Tuesdays and Fridays which means i will have to forgo some salsa lessons, if not all of them in favour of this module. or maybe i'll just join another studio. since the fees at this 1 aren't exactly cheap.

I have acquaintances in 2 other studios that teach salsa... or i can try some other thing like lindy hop , which looks nice.

anyway there's been a change in my sleeping patterns today which largely stemmed from me deriving entertainment purely through sound and not active visual interaction through the computer, which in my opinion, is GREAT coz i'm a lot more relaxed.

Well, this is going to only get more mundane, but i intend to write to the ST/WP/MP about the upcoming "cpf reform" and honestly tell them what a 20 year old thinks and feels. from all this shit they're throwing at us.

1. Saying you're solving a "future problem" by giving us another problem, and making us poorer? honestly you think we're STUPID?
2. Compulsory re-hiring of "senior staff" beyond a certain age will cause job insecurity .
3. The PROPOSED CPF+older worker re-hiring will promote consumerism while deterring the act of "saving".
4. Annuities, cannot help people who cannot reach the minimum amount to buy an annuitiy, and also those who cannot help those who barely have enough to buy an annuity. Paying installments for an annuity will only serve to be a bane for households slaving to fend off rising monthly bills, especially so in lower income households. HOW DOES THIS PLAN HELP THE POOR?
5. If older workers are already currently shunned for economic and productivity concerns, what are private sector views on the proposed law for retaining older workers?
6.If the civil service is forced to indirectly provide for older workers by providing jobs for them, won't it go against the main motive of the CPF- to remove the burden of providing for the aged from the government?
7. Proposals:

7A. do not impose mandatory aged worker retention bill, instead>>
EXCLUDE older workers from taxes but Raise personal CPF contribution by previously taxed amount. give tax breaks to companys and reduce CPF contribution from employers.
7B. Peg the current CPF Rate of return to that of (30 year Bonds+1.5X official rate of inflation) to increase the incidence of savings( disincentive from bond trading) as well as to peg against inflation. 1.5 times due to the make up for the lag time in official statistic updating as well as yearly fluctuations. If fluctuations go beyond the average, then the govt's economic policy can be held to task.
