WOOO HOO!! alright man..

synopsis of this plague:
it seems my whole BOOT SECTOR was wiped. how, i do not have a clue. but i'm in the process of scanning and re-scanning. and it appears that i have "salvaged" 8GB worth of HDD space JUST by using "Chkdsk" aka checkdisk(the same thing as scandisk.exe from windows 98) from a windows X.P CD .

Well, it was actually very simple at 1st. It seemed to be that the boot sector was corrupted, or, as i had wrongly diagnosed at the start, the HDD could be dead. In the event that the boot sector(the part of your HDD dedicated to start windows )is corrupted, getting your hands on a Windows XP cd will suffice. However, in my case, i think i had some hardware problems involving my IDE controller(the HDD controller) which needed to be overcome.It was giving me BSOD(blue screen of death) and stop errors just before windows XP recovery console was accessible. Well, i fixed that by using my old, take-everything-out-and-put-them-in-one-by-one-booting-and-rebooting-with every-addition method and everything's fine now :)

now back to scanning mycomputer and then going on to air my not so friendly views regarding the "top brass" of our country's civil service.
